Universal Dock G2
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I have a Macbook Pro 2019 and a HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2.

Firmware version of the dock is 1.1.13.

DisplayLink Manager: 1.5.0

Issue: The dock disconnects randomly, especially when the Macbook connects after a fresh start and/or all programs are starting up. The typically scenario is coming to work, connecting the dock, starting up the computer. The external monitor gets connected but suddenly it disconnects (also the USB mouse disconnects). I then have to unplug the dock in order to get back the connection with the dock. Then this can happen a number of times, and suddenly it stops and everything works great the rest of the day.

Any clues or others who experiences this?

In addition to this, I also have an audio issue. I use headphones with the dock, and sometimes when shifting between the dock audio and Macbook built-in speakers, I cannot return to using the dock and headphones audio again. This requires a reboot of the Macbook in order to work.

---UPDATE AUDIO ISSUE ---

Seems like if I restart the software I want to use to play audio (e.g. Spotify), the audio returns (at least most of the times, have not fully tested this).

Any clues or others who experiences this?

I would like to try to downgrade to the previous firmware, as I can't recall I exeperiences these issues as much then (I was working remote then and had a different setup).

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware safely, if so how?

Thanks! 🙂
