HP Recommended
Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D120AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Model: Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D120AV)

OS: Win 11 Home 64-bit version 21H2

External monitor: Dell dell p2314h

Supported res: 1920X1080 (recommended at both ends)

Issue: 1. External monitor not detected. 2. Unable to extend screen.

Details:

External monitor connected through USB-C to DP cable. Failed. (option A)

Again connected through USB-C to VGA cable. Failed. (option B)

Both cable works fine on another Surface Pro laptop running on Win 10. Cable is good.

Steps involved:

Pressed Win+P keys.

Selected Extend option on the displayed menu. This option never remains sticky. It always return to "PC Screen only" option.

Then went to Settings->System->Display->Multiple Displays section.

Both boxes are checked.

Pressed Detect other display button "Detect". Message returned : "We didn't find another display".

Meanwhile monitor complaints that no signal received through the cable(s).

Updates applied:

Updated the BIOS driver. Restarted laptop.

Display driver is up-to-date as per HP diagnostics tool test.

Any tips, ideas, suggestions, help appreciated.

EDIT: 10/11/2021 - After reading user manual, learnt that USB-C is just a data transfer port and HDMI is the only video out port. Hence ordered a new HDMI to DP cable and tested today. Still no success. Monitor says no signal from laptop. Laptop is not detecting 2nd display as well. 😞

EDIT2: 15/11/2021 -  Ordered a HDMI to DVI cable and tested today. SUCCESS AT LAST! which means the issue is with DP port in the external monitor.

Thanks,

Vetri
