EliteBook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

I have several HP EliteBook 840 G3s running Windows 10 v1607 that are having problems installing KB4041691. When updated request in restart, the machines get a BSOD of the following: Stop code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA - What failed: ci.dll.

With this error I'm unable to boot into safe mode or anything. I have tried running the following DISM commands in the CMD when the windows screen comes up for addition troubleshooting and from MS DART 10, but have had no joy as well.

-dism.exe /image:E:\ /remove-package /packagename:[the package name]

-dism.exe /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I've been able to verify that KB4041691 is the trouble update due to running MS DART 10 and looking at the event logs; and also by running CMD:dism.exe /image:E:\ /Get-Packages which stated that KB4041691= install pending

Additional things I've tried is as follow:

- Run HP Diagnostics (extensive test) = passed

- Does not create a dump file so I'm unable to check the dump file for issues.

Your help and/or thoughts on this is helpful. If now, I shall keep re-imaging these machines.

Very Respectfully,
