Hi again,

I did not think that this may be a problem with low quality disc. I was sure that you are using the same brand as always. I'm glad that you found solution. Tnx for posting about it.

Hi Daniel,
once again I have questions/problems with the nvidia driver.
i copied this text from before because it's exactly what happens to me:
"I downloaded the Intel chipset drivers, I removed the NVIDIA drivers using Driver Sweeper, and then tried to download the NVIDIA driver from the link in your tutorial. All I got was a BSOD with half-inch vertical white bars every two inches. I have tried downloading a variety of drivers from NVIDIA website, but same result. It is only when I completely remove all NVIDIA drivers and let the laptop default to Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor that it will even work.
OS boots up and everything runs fine, but screen is showing thin vertical turquoise lines. They are only a few pixels in width and are mostly noticeable against light background. "
youn meant it is a GPU mistake.
But the strange thing is, that i tried different drivers with different solutions. Some (like "yours") never work, some are working for 2 hours, and some are working for several days until it breaks. If they work everything runs perfect. Aero, Movies, Windows Animations, 3D and CAD programs.
It's always the same, either it crashes while booting, or it crashes from nothing. E.g. I sat next to the laptop and no program was running, I watched TV. Then the funny pixels appeared and 1 min later the system crashed and tried to restart. = Dead-Stripes
Then - safe mode- delete the whole nvidea stuff - restart
and it's working again but only with VGA
Thanks,
Max Bernardi

@sacerdos37
Hi,
You've got the same problem as user which was original author of these words..
First go to www.nvidiasettlement.com and check is your laptop on faulty Nvidia GPU affected models list.
If it's on the list then check there FAQ.
If it's not on the list then check this link. You will find there some informations how you may solve this problem.

I have modded a set of HP Graphics Drivers for Win7_Vista. There working well and would like your help in getting these out to the community to help them with there Conversion to Windows 7. The driver version is 186.44, and am willing to help work out the bugs in the drivers. Thanks for your time! [text removed for privacy]

The links in HP have changed since you posted this response.... I mistakenly assumed that windows 7 would have all the drivers I needed, and that, if not, I'd be able to download them from HP. WRONG. Should have known..... oh well. I can't even find the specifications of what hardware is on this computer so that I could download drivers elsewhere. I have a dv6439nr.
Device manager is telling me that I don't have drivers for:
- Base system Device: Other devices: Location PCI bus 7, device 5, funcion 3
- Base system Device: Other devices: Location PCI bus 7, device 5, funcion 2
- Coprocessor: Other devices: Location PCI bus 0, device 10, function 3
I did the clean windows 7 upgrade since the wireless card is not working... Device manager only shows NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller.
I've run windows update, and that fixed some of the drivers, and am now running HP assistant. Does anyone know where I can find the specs on this machine so that I can look for drivers elsewhere?

Hi,
To solve this problems install chipset and card reader drivers.
They are on first page of this topic.
HP support page for dv6439nr is here.
I understand that you had problem with wireless even before upgrade, so it looks that this is hardware problem.
This may be solved very easy. Buy and connect USB wireless card to your laptop.
If you live in US then you should be interested in checking proposed NVIDIA GPU settlement and affected models list which is there. If your laptop product number (pn) is on the list then wireless problem is one of Identified Symptoms per Settlement Agreement.
