ACPI\HPQ0006
*HPQ0006

Thanks for the recovery program.  I didn't think it was a program and was lookoing for the option in the BIOS.

Ah, I didn't install the quick launch button yet.  Not sure what it is and if I want it.  I have left off all HP software as this is out of warranty and most this extra stuff just contributes to slowing an already slow system down.  If I knew what it was, I may install depending.

on a side note, I still can't get F11 to pop up (only F10 and ESC) and can't get into recovery mode.  I extracted the .exe and found a MBR program and it has a menu, but not sure what options to select.  I'm thinking of the recover boot for force option setting, but not sure.  hopeing you have more enlightening ideas than my guessing.

After not getting the F11 key to function, I just went into computer management and activted the resore partition and booted from it and it started tthe restore process fine.  Now I have copied all the software to my flash drive.

I reinstalled windows 7 and so far ony installed MS Works.  The rest wasn't really anything I'd use. but in all the system is running smooth once again

Thanks for all the help

ps, when I had Vista up and running, I tried to create rescue CDs, but it refused.  It said something like it can only be done once, and I think the CDs got thrown away as my dad has had three HP products in the last year (this is his laptop) and I think he threw them out by mistake.  Is there a way to get it to recreate a Vista rescue CD again?  and can it be done within Windows 7?

I am a big fan of Imaging software, which can restore your machine in less than an hour to a pristine state..as long as you have an Image done while it is pristine. Paragaon and Macrium both have free versions that work well. I use Macrium and really like it. Both programs can create the restore Image to CD/DVD, external USB HDD (my preference) or network drive. Each lets you burn a boot cd to boot from and restore from an image even when your machine will not boot into Windows.

Hi Guys!

I've a Pavilion DV6626US recently upgraded to Win 7.

Did a clean installation of Windows with disk format.

Followed Win 7 upgrade guide as posted in this forum step by step (all drivers downloaded from links provided and installed by the order posted).

I am now stuck with my webcam. Never had any problems with it running on Vista and XP but for some reason Win 7 does not even recognize there is such device. Device manager does not show camera devices at all. The only thing is I have an unknown USB device right from the beginning and I believe this is exactly the webcam (although not sure about it).

Please advise me on that subject, I miss my webcam 🙂

Windows update should find the camera fine.

What program are you using to view the webcam?  Skype?

ps.  IIRC, the unknown device is for the special function keys on the speaker panel.  I never bothered to install it as I never used it.

Hi everybody. I've installed Winoot 7 on my french dv9530em. And i want to go back to Windows Vista. I tried to press F11 on the boot screen, but it didn't work.

I still have a partition called HP_RECOVERY full of files that I don't know much about.

Does anyone know how to boot from this partition ?

thank you in advance for your help.
