ENVY 17t-n153nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, HP! I am currently using an Envy 17t, and I would like to upgrade the wireless card. I found one that works with the laptop, but the BIOS locks up whenever I try to use it. Can you help me out?

I have read many forums, and this seems to be a whitelisting issue with the BIOS. I have tried most things previously offered as solutions in other posts, but nothing seems to work. The error message comes up as "Wireless Module not supported // The system has detected a Wireless module installed in the system is not supported. System has halted. Please remove device and restart. // Bluetooth Module ID (704). // // // For more information, please visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"

What do you think is the issue? As I said, I would like to upgrade to a newer wireless card. At the time, my wireless card was the best offered. But, my laptop is outliving the wifi card, and so I would like to upgrade it to one of the newer cards due to increased speed and security.

I know the laptop is compatible with the new wifi card as I have tried installing it while the computer is already booted up. It works great, except I get stuck whenever I try to restart my computer. When I do this, I get the previously mentioned 704 error. Can you help me resolve this?

I look forward to hearing what other people think, and I look forward to your reply.

Warmly,

Eric
