I have a new ZBook 17 G6 which as purchased at the end of 2019. After about 2 months of normal usage, the 17" FHD (matte screen, non-touch, non-Dreamcolor) screen developed a dead pixel and also a bit of screen bleeding. Here are the details of the problems.
- Dead pixel: There's a dead pixel somewhere in the middle of the screen. When the screen is black, (e.g. during boot up or when I'm using my software development tool with black ground, this dead pixel shows up as white color.
- Screen bleeding: the left and right sides screen shows signs of screen bleeding with hues of white light emitting when the screen is fully black. This isn't a problem during boot up but when when I'm using my software development tool with black ground, the screen bleed is obvious.
I had gone to my local HP service center in Singapore to seek assistance to replace this screen citing the above reasons, but was rejected by a repair engineer who relayed the message to the front counter staff saying that the screen bleeding is normal (what??) and that HP will only replace the screen only when there are 5 dead pixels or more.
My previous Elitebook with a Dreamcolor screen had screen bleeding problems and I was to get the screen replaced twice to resolve the issue, with no questions asked.
I understand that my current ZBook 17 G6 is only spec'd with the normal 17" FHD screen but I did pay a good amount of money to spec it with an Nvidia RTX5000 GPU for development purposes.
For such a top-end business laptop, I would expect HP to treat their customers with more care and concern. Hopefully someone from HP reads this post and can help me get my issues addressed. I do not wish to constantly visit the local HP service center to attempt to get the screen replaced by being a nasty and demanding customer. All I want is to be treated appropriately with the sort of product that I purchased.
