ZBook G4 Studio
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,  I have a ZBook G4 Studio laptop that is skipping keystrokes when I type in Windows 10.   I've upgraded the BIOS to the latest version 1.20 and reinstalled windows using the Recovery Media, but the problem still persists.   The keystrokes seem to be lost about once every second.  It's like the internal keyboard's driver is freezing for a fraction of a second periodically.  With an external keyboard the laptop works as expected.

I also notice that while in the laptop BIOS setup, the mouse and keyboard seem to have similar issues.  Like the mouse pointer freezes every second for a fraction of a second.   I also tried booting the laptop from an Ubuntu USB. In Ubuntu the intenal keyboard works better, but still occationally misses a keystroke.

I suspect this is a BIOS or hardware issue.  Are there any other reports of such problems with this line of laptops?

I see reports of similar problems on other older models of HP laptops like here:

Thanks.

UPDATE 4th July

On June 22nd I opened a support ticket with HP, the next working day UPS collected the laptop for repair.  It's now with them but on hold till the 25th or August becuase they don't have the parts to fix it.  Needless to say I'm questioning how HP can justify the price tag on this product that has failed and HP need two months to fix.  One star reviews all aroung I think. What an utter failure HP!

UPDATE 12th July

HP Fix and returned the laptop quicker than expected.  Seems they replaced the motherboard and keyboard and re-imaged windows.   Happy that it is fixed, but still took quite a while.
