HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am hoping someone on here can help. I have the 17" HP ca-0009cy model. I recently tried to add another 8GB memory module but the laptop wouldn't recognize. I "upgraded" the bios to the latest version and while it was installing the screen went black and never started again. The board has power. If I try to boot with no RAM installed I get the 3 blinks on CAPS LOCK button. If I have the original 8GB ram installed I get nothing. I've tried removing the battery, holding down the WINDOWS and B and V keys. Nothing is working.

I don't think it's a RAM issue but I could be wrong (but 2 different module act the same).

I was thinking I may try replacing the bios chip but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. There is NO CMOS battery as far as I can tell. I should mention I have also tried the BIOS USB recover method and that does not do anything either.

Thanks,

Chris
