HELP!!

We have a Spectre x360 convertible that is about 1 1/2 years old, so it is recently out of warranty.  The last couple weeks the screen started having image retention/ghosting so it looks like there is a screen image behind the screen that is showing.  The screen also starts flickering after using the computer for a couple hours.  The computer is not warm or overheating.  When I run diagnostics it says everything is okay with no problems, but the screen is FLICKERING!  It also shows that everything is updated.  I uninstalled the couple programs we have been using on the laptop for the past year (Office and Printshop 2019), but the screen flickering continues.  So I don't believe it is the software. (and reinstalled the programs)

I know it is the laptop screen or something having to do with the screen because when I plug in a second screen, the laptop flickers but the 2nd screen is clear.

This is frustrating, especially since this is a top of the line, expensive laptop. Surely hp products have longer than a year's lifespan.

Any suggestions on how to fix the screen?  Is there a 'patch' or something that is easily downloaded by users?

Thank you for any help.
