I have a HP Envy m6-p113dx and for as long as I can remember I have had internet issues. I always just assumed that it was a network issue with the service provider, however I have had similar issues across several different networks over the years. Finally I have accepted the fact that there is something wrong with my laptop itself. Issues include not staying connected to networks, staying connected but claiming there is no internet, and overall slow speeds regardless of the network capabilities (On Wi-Fi I usually have speeds that range between 3-7mbps but have had speeds recorded as low as 0.4mbps and can only ever get as high as 10-12mbps despite being on a 1000mbps network and every other device on my network records speeds of 60+mbps at different times. I also plugged in an ethernet cable to my laptop and recorded speeds of 105mbps).
I have run several troubleshooters, diagnostic checks, checked for updates, and have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers several times. Still no luck. Just recently tried to look into replacement WLAN cards but had a hard time finding one as the computer is several years old, however I found one on Amazon and ordered it because it claimed to be able to work with my computer but when it came in and I installed it, the computer said "Wireless Module not supported" and would not load. So does anyone know which wireless card will be a good replacement for the factory card? I'm hoping to get an upgraded card and not the same kind of card that is in it. Or if there is a possible fix that doesn't involve purchasing another card I'm open to that as well, I would just like to finally have these issues solved after dealing with them for 5+ years.
EDIT: After posting this I was redirected to a similar forum post from 2016 that said to try turning Bluetooth off. I just tried that and my speeds increased from <10mbps to 35-40mbps. That's better speed wise (staying connected issues remain to be seen), however I'm still interested to see if there is a better WLAN card I can order and install into my computer to replace the factory card.
