Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Have spent hours trying to solve black screen. When downloading BIOS update (on a W10 Desktop) from this site, the latest vex is:

Using HP DL & Install Assist the process aborts at a failure to extract: "Failed to extract cab". User has no more options or info at this point.*

Still, the file is in the folder, but when I 'run' it, error that 'Device Media is Write Protected'.*

Is the usb drive in fact blocked - when W10 says it is not - or is the error from D&I Assist failure to extract? And what causes that?

First time I got the 'write protected' error I was skeptical. I had just made the drive blank. I reformatted it to be sure. Still get error so my questions above.

Consistent with other fails, it seems I cannot upload my screen pics. Or, if I do, they must be at the end when I'm done. Maybe they will appear here.
