Hi all,
I have a question about H10 enabled notebooks, i.e. spectre x360 and system /recovery/reinstallation.
1. It is not clear yet, which is the preferable way and I have found that you can reinstall Windows 10 (pro) on the notebook, using the F6-Method from Intel, that means using the RST-Drivers at installation time. This implies that Optane remained "enabled" while reinstalling. I mean, this will be likely the case when Windows 10 needs to be reinstalled due to corruptions, lost encryption key etc etc.
But is this recommended? Does the Optane cache need to be cleared after reinstallation, or is everything just fine? I am not sure, if the Optane Cache should be reset or cleaned or sth.
Or should you just disable Optane in any case before doing the reinstallation (I guess you won't need the RST drivers then).
Note: The Intel documentation on H10 mentions WinRecovery with the F6/RST method.
2. Regarding the HP Recovery: Is it possible to perform a Win10Pro recovery from those directly? The i.e. Spectre has a home license key in the firmware, so Win10 will likely recover to Home. I'd prefer a clean Installation into a Pro-environment.
3. A maybe third, optional question is, I have seen after reinstallation, that it was not possible to "reset" the installation from Windows10. Data/Recovery information was missing for some reason, so a reset (wiping user data) was not possible at all. Could it be related to Optane Caching with Reinstallation? Never seen that on other machines before.
Thanks for responses.
