Ive posted this as there are a lot of posts telling people what ram to buy but none to tell you how to get to it, this laptop is so slow, its unusable with the 4gb ram it comes with, so I went on the crucial web site, put the details in, several recommendations, your best buying a matched pair 8Gb or 16Gb, take your pick.
I also bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VC5TSB8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 only £14.99 it has the plastic wedges needed to lift the cover, and plenty of other useful tools.
I went for 16GB, remove the power adaptor, earth yourself to remove any static build up, I placed the laptop upside down on a towel, carefully remove the rubber strips from the underneath of the laptop, this will expose the hidden screws remove all of the screws, then tun the laptop up over so you are looking at the keyboard, carefully either with a plastic pick or a credit card, pry up the black facia that forms the top of the laptop, I couldn't get the, top panel clear by the hinges, I turned the laptop over, and gently pulled the bottom panel away from the top.
Before you do anything else earth yourself out, I used a radiator, you will now see the main board, containing the battery, hard drive and two ram slots, its very simple to change the ram, there are several videos online, just pull the retaining lugs gently outwards and the single stick of ram will just pull out, the ram can only go in one way, you can see there is a gap on the chip, insert the chips, replace the cover, replace the screws and rubber strips, your done.
Just switch on the laptop like you normally would, the motherboard recognises the ram as does Windows, this cheap upgrade, cost £78 including the tools, and turned a slow unusable laptop into a fast pleasure to use piece of kit, our IT guy at work said 16GB was over the top, but it was only a difference of £20 to put a matched pair in, and it took me only 25 mins, if anyone is wondering Im a gas engineer not an IT guy, good luck I hope this helps people out.
