I think I got a virus.
On start up a message appeared saying corrupt or missing config sys file, and something about using the original windows disc to repair it. I tried starting it several times and still got the message. thr machine is some yrs old and I do not have the disc.
I then bought hirens disc to fix things. I then tried to start the laptop but it now has a black screen and the cd drive keeps trying to do something, putting any sort of disc in has no effect.
Looking thru thr help things I came to the conclusion that the bios is now corrupt.
On my desktop hp windows 10 I downloaded the hp latest bios intending to make a usb memory stick. Howver when run the sp 45086 on my desktop to create the usb it says driver failed to load and does not complete.
I then tried to create the usb one by running the sp 45086 on a dell laptop, this says the bios does not match and again fails
HELP
