HP Prime Graphing Calculator
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am a new convert to the HP Prime calculator (I used the Ti-nspire CX CAS and Ti-89 nearly every day for more than 15 years).

When I type in an expression containing the variable "x" in CAS mode, the letter is lowercase.  When I type in this same expression in Home mode, the variable "X" is uppercase.  The problem is that when I copy and paste the expression from the CAS screen into the function app for graphing, I receive "Error: Syntax Error".  If I copy and paste the expression from the Home mode, on the other hand, no such error occurs.  The same problem presents itself when I use the Menu button to select the expression for input into the function app.  It appears that the function app will not accept lowercase "x"; it only accepts uppercase "X".  This is a bummer, as it would simplify my work greatly if I could use copy/paste or the Menu button to quickly transfer algebraic expressions containing "x" from the CAS screen to the function app for graphing.  As it now stands, I have to re-type such expressions from scratch into the function app.  There has to be a way around this.

Is there a way around this problem?

Is there a setting for the CAS mode that will change the variable "x" from lowercase to uppercase?

Is there a setting in the function app that will allow it to accept lowercase "x"?

...

After fiddling around with the calculator, I have found one way to make the situation easier.  If I have an expression in CAS mode that I'd like to graph in the function app, I can go to the function app and use the menu button to transfer the expression to the entry bar of, say, F(1).  If I hit enter, the error message will appear.  Upon pressing OK, the cursor will jump to the first lowercase "x".  I can then delete and press the variable button, which puts an uppercase "X" in its place.  By repeating this process for every lowercase "x" in the expression, I will then end up with the expression containing all uppercase "X"s, and the function can then be graphed.  This at lease eliminates having to manually move to each lowercase "x" prior to replacement.  It's still a serious disappointment that this work-around is needed, and I barely convinced myself to keep the calculator because of this whole issue.  I really hope there is still a better way or that at least HP comes up with a future update to get around this.  It's a pretty serious problem, in my opinion.
