HP Laserjet 2420d
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I stupidly made the mistake of installing the Microsoft generic PCL6 print driver when installing the 2420d as a new printer on a friend's Windows 10 (64-bit) PC. When I immediately realized my mistake, I removed the Microsoft driver and installed the latest PCL6 driver from the HP 2420d driver download area. However, when I try to print to the 2420d, the printer prints too long a first page and then stops printing the rest of the file. It will do this, no matter what PC I try to print from, so it seems to be a problem with the printer and not all of the PCs. - Am I correct in thinking that the Microsoft print driver installation must have slightly altered the 2420'd's firmware? If yes, since the 2420d currently has the latest firmware installed, can I, and should I, try to reinstall that same firmware? - TIA for any advice you can provide (besides me getting a new brain).
