HP Probook 6450b
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Ironically, my Notebook switch off right in the middle of a BIOS update that was intendet to fix this issue. Now the Notebook doesn't boot. The display stays black, all lights (LEDs) are switch on, only the caps-lock LED is blinking.

I would like to recover the BIOS and found several posts and videos describing how to do this:

1.) turn of Notebook (I removed the Accu and the HDD)

2.) prepare a BIOS Recovery USB Flash Drive and plug the USB stick into one of the USB ports

3.) press and hold WIN+B / or WIN+V / or Arrow Keys (I tried all)

4.) power on the Notebook

but this does not work. First I just copied only the bin and sig files to the USB Flash Drive. When the Notebook starts, the USB stick shows some activity for a few seconds but then nothing happens.

I then tried to create a recovery Flash Drive using the file SP52509.exe that I found on the HP support site for the Probook 6450b. When I now start the notebook, the LED on the USB stick keeps blinking, but nothing else happens. I waited for about 5 minutes.

I use an 8 GB USB stick formated using FAT32. The partition is named HP_TOOLS and the following files are stored on the flash drive:

\Hewlett-Packard

\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS

\Hwelett-Packard\BIOS\Current

68CDE.SIG

68CDE.BIN

\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New

68CDE.SIG

68CDE.BIN

\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Previous

68CDE.SIG

68CDE.BIN

\Hwelett-Packard\BIOSUpdate

HpBiosUpdate.efi
HpBiosUpdate.sig
HpBiosUpdate.s09
CryptRSA.efi
HpBiosUpdate32.efi
HpBiosUpdate32.sig
HpBiosUpdate32.s09
CryptRSA32.efi

I copied the BIN and SIG file created during the BIOS update to the different directories.

I appreciate any hint helping me to recover the notebook.

Kind regards,

Jiriki
