Printer was working fine for years. I went to print something recently and the printer is showing as offline in Windows 10. I went into the control panel and tried to get the printer back online. Although the printer never showed as online, it actually did end up printing the document in the queue and the Windows 10 test page. I thought that meant the printer was working. Next time I went to print, again, the printer is offline. Now I can't even get it to print the test page.
I checked the WiFi on the printer. It is connected to my wireless network. I checked my router. The printer shows up and has the ip address 192.168.1.45.
I downloaded the latest HP driver (HP_LaserJet_M252_Full_Software_and_Drivers_15311.exe) and ran that. When it comes time to find the printer, it says it cannot find the printer using any method. Not auto, ip address, or hardware address. I tried all three. I did not try hostname because I don't know the hostname of my printer (or if it even has one).
I printed the network config report off the printer. It has a troubleshooting section that says there are multiple access points with the same network name. I looked that up online and it says that if a router uses the same network name for 2G and 5G, it could cause problems. As a test, I disabled 5G on my router and restarted it. I still get the same error when I print the network config report.
I did a factory reset on the printer (holding down lower-right until it said Internal Storage). I had to re-enter the wifi information on the printer. Tried to install the driver software again and it still can't find the printer.
If it matters, I can access the web config page by entering the printer's ip address into the browser's url line.
So... any ideas as to how to fix this?
Thank you in advance,
Darren
