Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had the HP M252dw printer for years and can print a full sheet of checks just fine. I recently discovered an option in Quickbooks to print a single check envelope style and thought I would give it a try.  Well after about 4 hours of messing around I have been wholly unsuccessful.  It seems that the printer is detecting that the paper I am feeding through the manual feed slot is only 3.5" wide and that is all that it will print of the check, the last 3.5" even though the paper is 8.5" long.  Here is what it looks like.

However, if I feed in a whole sheet of paper the entire check prints out.  Here is what it looks like.

Why is the check being cropped to what appears to be 3.5", the width of the check, when it clearly has the length to be able to print the whole check?  I have attempted to configure a custom paper size for the check and I get the same results, however it does eliminate the "paper size mismatch error" that pops up on the printer when I feed the check in.
