Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Been printing to my HP Laserjet 1100 for many years (18) without problems; all of a sudden about 2 months ago, stopped; have tried adding, removing, HP scan and printer doctor; several different computer techs; thought I was always communicating via LPT1 but per Device Manager, only have Com1, and that does not work; keep getting an error message (non - specific) without a number or code when try to print; can't print test page
