HP Recommended
MFP M426fdw Laserjet Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I finally needed to replace the toner cartridge with a new HP 26A cartridge.  I opened the printer and removed the old cartridge.  When I went to put in the new cartridge, it wouldn't seat all the way in.  I tried a number of different times and ways but it wouldn't go in.  I looked inside of the slide and found two thing I didn't like.  First, there was a spring about an inch long laying in the bottom of the slot.  Also, when looking in the slot, I see some plastic piecing hanging down from the upper right side deep in the slot.  I think that's what the cartridge catches on.

The printer is out of warranty.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Thanks.
