Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have spent all morning trying to install a printer driver and am getting really frustrated.

The printer is new the OS is a clean install as of a week ago. Windows detects the printer, the driver detects the printer but the driver will not install. I'm not trying anything complicated here.

The driver installs, asks me to disconnect the printer USB cable, connect it again, I get a message saying 'Product has been detected waiting for product setup to finish. This may take serveral minutes', this takes about 20 minutes and then fails with the message 'Error An install operation took too long to execute. This is a fatal error preventing product use. Please restart your computer, and run this installer again. If the problem persists, please check the product suppoer web site for your product.'

I've installed the driver, uninstalled drivers as per documentation, updated the firmware and tried Print and Scan Doctor all to no avail.

I just don't know what to try next.
