Product: Officejet Pro X476dn MFP

My work printer will often boot up with key functions greyed out (white circle with a slanted cross-line). I have no choice but to reboot. And depends on its mood, it will come back with the key functions active on next boot. But sometimes it doesn't and will take several tries. What is causing this?
