Up until today, my DesignJet 4500 large format scanner was working perfectly. When I powered it on today, I was unable to restore any of the "persistent" network connections. Further, the touchscreen computer running the HP scan application appears to be unable to detect any kind of network. I tested the LAN connection back to the switch; the network tester (Fluke LinkRunner) is able to detect and connect to my network. However, when the scanner is connected, back at the switch, the activity LEDS on the connected port are off (no link activity).
I tried restoring the Scanner system from the DVD twice; once as a "warm" reinstall (preserve data), and once as a "cold" reformat the HDD and reinstall the OS.
I suspect the embedded network interface is dead. Is there a way to replace or add a new network interface card? Looking inside the case, i do not see any additional expansion slots.
Alternatively, I guess I could use another computer as long as it has sufficient memory, HDD capacity, two fire wire ports and a network interface. I am pretty sure that the underlying OS for the canning software is windows based.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Anyone else had this issue with their large format scanner?
