Product: Designjet T230

I have fitted an A3 feeder tray to my HP Designjet T230. The default printer preferences are set to 420 x 297 for A3. paper in (landscape direction ) The A3 feeder slots in so the paper is fed in a  portrait direction 297 x 420 . but the printer still wants to print in 420 x 297  When I try to print A3 with the feeder it does not print on all the page ? 

How do I change the printer pretences to fit the direction of paper in the feeder tray ?

I'm sure its simple but I just cant see it.
