Hi,
I previously installed my printer on my phone, iPad and windows with hp smart and on Ubuntu 20.4 LTS with hplip with a router wifi connection.
Now I get connected to wifi by my cell phone hotspot and don’t have the router any more.
When I turn on my printer, I can see it in the list of wifi and can get connected on the cell phone and iPad.
On windows 7, i can get connected either to the printer wifi or cell phone hotspot.
on Ubuntu, I can see the check mark in front of the printer wifi in the list of wifi network but the connect button is inactive and can’t be clicked. I can get connected to the cell hotspot.
it seems that all devices except the computer on Ubuntu can get connected to the printer for some operations for ex when I clear or adjust cartridge. But when I check the cartridge level, it processes endlessly and I have to quit the hp smart on the phone & iPad. When I want to scan, I get the message that the printer can be found.
the question is that can my printer be connected to the devices through hotspot and not the router? If so, how to solve the above problems?
note that it seems that the printer ip in hp smart is the same as the ip when the printer was installed with the router. Does it mean that hp smart has kept some information that it got through the router wifi and that’s why for some operations, the printer can be found?
cheers
