HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Out of warranty HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw machine has been working properly for about a year.  Recently, the screen has a message, "Document loaded" that prohibits copying or scanning from the ADF or flatbed.  For a few days, if the top lid is tilted up for loading documents on flatbed, then the Document loaded message would change to Ready and the printer would copy/scan well (with the lid tilted up) from either the flatbed or ADF.  However, that solution was only a temporary fix for the printer to function for only a few days of success.  The tilting of the lid to open flatbed no longer works.

There are no problems with printing documents sent from various computers on the network.  Also able to scan documents on flatbed onto USB drive to print documents as a scan to make a copy, but these steps are too cumbersome for copying multiples pages without use of the ADF.  Checked all areas of machine trying  to find paper jam and cleaned all rollers as instructed by HP troubleshooting steps.

Using HP support pages to download updates did not resolve this issue.  Print and Scan Doctor 5.1 doesn't get past something called WAN error so it doesn't get a chance to fix the error message.  Still hoping to use the Print and Scan Doctor as a solution.

What seems to be the problem?  Is there a specific part to repair/replace?  Is this a known issue for this machine?

Any help would be appreciated.
