Product: HP office jet pro 6978

I have the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 all in one printer. When I turned it on the door open screen came on telling me to make sure the cartridge door is closed all the way and it is however the small pin or plastic part on the top side where are you to copy documents is broken off so I am assuming the sensor doesn’t know that it’s fully closed. How do I override this so I can print. Again everything is completely closed the printer works just that small plastic piece on the top side broke off therefore it keeps thinking the door is open when it is not
