This is just to help anyone else out there that has the same issue.  The printer won't pick up the paper out of the input tray.  The problem is that a little gear gets stripped by the metal shaft that turn it.  You need a mirror to see what happened.  Sometimes super glue can fix the issue.  It is exactly like the 6500 printer, and is discussed here:
