HP Recommended
Product: driver for printer
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have a new Mac air. I tired connecting Deskjet D1420. I downloaded the current driver from HP site. But when it installs it is version 4 not version 5. I called Apple support and they walked me through setting up the printer. They said it is a problem with HP software and not a problem with the computer. What do I need to do to get the correct driver to install on my Mac? When I try to print I get an error saying  :" One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software". I have tried re-installing the software and I still get this error.
