....my printer was also freezing after sending a  print job via wifi.

 

HP chat suppot gave me the correct troubleshooting hint:

Start printer wireless network diagnostic as follows and check error messages:

1.) Press info button on panel until all lights light up

2.)Then press info button and green arrow button simultaniously to print out wireless network report

 

->check  error message.

 

In my case the signal quality was not sufficient, although the printer was shown at good signal strength by the router itself.

In order to solve freezing you should move the printer closer to the wifi router or allow only 2,4Ghz  connection (instead of weak 5ghz wifi). The setup for 2,4GHz wifi only, can be done in the network setting of the printer itself.   Since I have changed to the stronger 2,4Ghz wifi, I no longer have freezing issues and the  wireless network report of the printer does not show any weak signal errors.
