HP Laserjet 600 M601
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Networked printer: The user needed the print jobs shifted to the left on Tray 2. It appears that any changes to the image registration to Tray 2 (although confirmed  they are set through checking  the webpage interface and the console) do not impact the print jobs regardless of the software/document type printed to that tray.

I was able to finally get Tray 3 to take the changes to the Y axis (I should say minus Y) setting to shift the print jobs to the left. The user also wanted to shift the print jobs up a bit but when I adjusted the X axis it impacted the Y axis shifting the print job back to the right. Print jobs tested: Case Catalyst doc type: .sgngl, WordPerfect doc type: .wpd.

After trying the adjustments for more than an hour we settled with the Y axis at minus 5 and the X axis at zero. I didn't need to make any changes to X2 or Y2 as this printer is not used for duplex.

Why would image registration work and then not work and then work again? I was looking for firmware updates that may address the image registration issues to be confident that would fix the problem but cannot find details to that end. I have no problem updating firmware but I need to know what the updates include/fix in detail.
