Officejet Pro 8028
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've run into an issue that I've been unable to fix. I have a few users that connect via VPN on company owned laptops to our company network, once connected they use RDP to connect to their office desktop machines. They've requested scanner/printers at home to complete their required tasks, we purchased HP Officejet 8028s to try and meet this need. they are brand new and all are having this issue.

I can print to their USB connected laptops at home, without issue, using the drivers (below) on the home laptop.

However, when I print on the office desktop machine to the local resource on the laptop at home it either prints gibberish or full line black streaks across the page. I know from previous experience that gibberish and lines usually means a bad or incorrect driver, as far as a know I'm using the correct drivers.

Things I've verified/tried:

1. Re-installed drivers on home laptop.

2. installed drivers on office machine. (shouldn't matter as it's using local resources, but why not!?)

3. Local resources/Printers is checked in the RDP settings (There is communication to the printer in RDP)

4. I'm using the driver located on the HP site https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8020-all-in-one-printer-series/242... (The correct drivers as far as i know)

5. I've verified which drivers are being used on both laptop and office system (the RDP resource printer comes up as Officejet 8020 series redirected #) inside printer properties advanced tab. They match, by all accounts there should be no issues printing.

The fact that it prints without  issue locally on the home laptop makes me think that it should be working via RDP from the office machine, but it's not.

Anyone have any insight as to what can cause this?

Regards,

- Luis
