HP OfficeJet 4655

I cannot scan anything from my HP OfficeJet 4655 to my laptop. I need to scan documents for school. I recently switched from a Macbook to an HP Envy. I never had this problem with my Mac. At first, the HP Print and Scan Doctor told me it was a "driver" error. I looked at HP's software site and there was only one driver and it is for "IT professionals only." After hours of troubleshooting I have gotten nowhere, I actually have taken steps backwards because now the Print and Scan Doctor won't communicate with my printer at all! I have tried power cycling all devices, turning my router on/off, setting my printer as the default printer, clearing the printer spool, changing ports, anything and everything I can find in the community support and in the troubleshooting panel. I am so frustrated, I am to the point that I just want to get a new printer even though there isn't anything wrong with mine. It still prints from websites, prints Word documents, and prints files saved to my computer. But it WILL NOT let me scan anything. I don't understand why my HP printer would scan to an Apple product but not to an HP product. Please help me!
