HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have recently come upon an HP OfficejetPro 8600 that, for some reason, doesn't recognize the presence of the printhead, despite the fact it is there and stocked with fresh ink cartridges. The printer recognizes that there are ink cartridges (and even gives estimated ink levels remaining), but always says there's some problem with the printer/ink system. I've tried the recommendations from HP such as manually cleaning the printhead and removing the printhead multiple times, with no luck. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated.

Some of the things that I noticed while troubleshooting:

1. Something appears to have broken off on the carriage itself.

2.     One of these little plastic things on the printhead is more pushed in than the other.
