Operating System: Chrome OS

HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP M479fdn

ChromeOS (up to date).

 

Printer is connected via USB cable (no other options available) - was working until last week.

Printer shows in the list of printers, and I can print to the (USB) printer, but that only prints in black and white.

When I try to print to the 'HP Print for Chrome' printer, it gives an error message: "HP Print for Chrome could not communicate with this printer.  Make sure the printer is plugged in and try again."

 

Sometimes the 'HP Print for Chrome' printer doesn't show in the list at all, but can still print to the (USB) printer...

 

I've tried removing and reinstalling the printers and the HP Print for Chrome extension several times, but it still won't work.
