Unwilling to squint at the screen... there is some relief from the fact that the current HP scanning software does not scale in Windows.  In the windows April?  2018 Microsoft began adding the capability to change the scaling on a specific application.    This is done in the application properties compatibility high DPI scaling.  I did it on the EXE not the shortcut. I was able to basically double the size  of the screen by eliminating the standard monitor scaling setting.  Still testing some things.    I think this will be highly dependent on your specific set up.
