Here is a typical step by step rundown of my attempt to use the HP Smart app: Locate and click on the app, wait 45 seconds for the dialog box to pop-up asking me for my "permission for the HP Smart app to make changes to my computer" (a step that I have approved dozens of times, yet it continues to ask anyway), wait another 30 seconds for the app to finally actually load, click the 'scan' button, wait 45 seconds for the app to come back and tell me that "scanning is currently unavailable", wait several minutes while I restart the printer to prove to the app that the printer is NOT actually offline (as the app continually claims), click 'scan' again, wait a few seconds for the next screen to populate so that I can then click 'scan' again on THAT screen, then the scanner finally runs. Elapsed time, around 6 minutes... Next usage: wash, rinse, repeat.
HP is right, this is SOOOO much better than when you could just push a single button on the printer and it just scanned. SMH
