Product: HP enterprise M506

Hi, I have a HP enterprise M506 that has an error code 49.38.07.  When I power the printer on and off it will begin normal initialization process and then the error code pops up and I have no access via the control panel that would allow me to say print the configuration page to see the current firmware level.  I have powered it on and off both with the network cable attached and not  attached.  I cannot find a engine test button to by-pass the formatter and thought I should try a firmware upgrade with a usb drive but have not been successful in identifying this process.  Thoughts?
