Color Laserjet Pro M254dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I posted a few months ago in this thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Color-LaserJet-Pro-M254dw-Supply-Proble...

The same error occured today, and low and behold, they firmware settings are now somehow set to "auto update" again, even though I 100% certainly turned them off due to the isses & solution in the thread mentioned above. The printer has been working normally ever since, on the june 2020 firmware. Just until today. Luckily I kept the firmware file and after downgrading it again it's working again. I am now again CERTAIN I have Allow Update set to "No", just as I was last time. Please explain to me how the printer got updated anyway?

This is truly outrageous. In a way I can't wait untill this unit breaks so I can move to a different hardware supplier.

For those in the same boat; my link to the last firmware that didn't have this issue still works: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PtKMe4dqfO9RbfQKyiOzBxsbwazP7V9l/view?usp=sharing
