Laserjet p1102w
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I am having trouble accessing HP web services (not using proxy, no problem with internet connection, excellent wifi etc). Just getting "Connection error. Check internet connection". Printer works like a charm otherwise for 5 years using airprint. I am thinking maybe it has to do with the firmware not being updated. Nowhere on the printer web interface is the option to check for or upgrade firmware. I can't even find a firmware version just "firmware datecode: 20130703". Nowhere on the web or HP support pages can I find how to see current firmware version for the p1102w or how to update it. My only option seems to be to download the "MAC printer driver" fro HP which will need no less than 950Mb of diskspace on my mac.

So my question is. Does anyone know how to check for and update the firmware on an LaserJet p1102w - printer using Mac OS?

Thank you for your time.
