Operating System: iOS

I can print locally with no issue, I can send print job from iMac with no problem. 
my hp smart app (iPhone X s max)  lately began stating ‘tray open’ and can’t print. The conflict is that same smart app can send print job if I need report, diagnostics, printer info and it prints with no issue. If I send regular print job, then it says ‘tray open/no paper’ which actually contradicts itself with previous well executed print iobs. There is no way that printer itself has issue since it succeeded the same job if sent from other sources . I am wondering if that is some connectivity between iPhone app and printer
