Product: HP Photosmart C4435 All-in-one-printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I properly installed a new black 74 ink cartridge that I bought from Walmart.   Error message continuously says incompatible print cartridge. When it's exactly what I need.   Do I need to replace the empty tri-color 75 also in order for my printer to recognize the new black 74 ink cartridge, or should I buy the black 74X.    I also tried taking out the empty tri-color 75, and leaving only the new black 74, but the error message now says missing or not detected black 74.  What should I do?  Should I buy another black 74 and see if this could be just a new and defected black 74 ink cartridge.
