I'm trying to setup our HP Laser Jet 700 MFP printers to scan to email using our Office365 email.

I've read lots of articles and every time I send a test email I get an error screen saying

"The operation failed. Please verify your configuration and try again."

Which doesn't really give me a lot to go on.  I've verified the traffic is getting out through the firewall.

I've tried firmware updates and disabled IP 6, downloading and adding the Baltimore Cyber trust certificate to the printer.

One area I'm not sure of is setting the DNS suffixes.  It says "

Set the domain name or DNS suffixes.
  • If the domain name suffix is not setup, use the IP address in the TCP/IP Domain Suffix area.
  • If DNS is required on the network, make sure that the suffix for the e-mail client is listed in the TCP/IP Domain Suffix area (DNS suffixes have a format similar to Gmail.com or companyname.com, etc.)."

Would I add the printers static IP address for the first bullet point?  Would the 2nd bullet point be the companyname.com that appears after the @ in our email address' ?  That is different from the local domain name.

Or any other tips? I have other devices on the network that are happily sending out email via office365, it's just these printers that are causing me issues.
