M428
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We received our new M428 Printer/Scanner/Copier this morning, and are hoping to get some clarity from the community, as HP Customer Support was not encouraging and, frankly, surprisingly unaware of some basic networking devices.

Our plans were to use the M428 as a backup to our larger printer/scanner if it goes down (which does happen with heavy use). The issue at hand: We have a networked workgroup of 5 computers and several printers, as well as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device accessed and used by all the computers for shared files. Our hope ( and expectation) for the M428 was to create a default folder on the NAS into which all the scans from the M428 would go. This is the workflow that we use with our primary multi-function device (a Xerox 4265). Using the instructions in the "User Manual," we tried to set up a folder on the NAS (using the IP address and specific folder, i.e. 123.45.6.78/ScanFolder) ...with no luck. Calling HP Customer Support, I encountered a tech who DID NOT KNOW what an NAS was...I was put on hold for several  minutes, after which he came back and told me that the printer/scanner could not access a shared folder on an NAS. Which makes no sense, but I'm wondering if anybody has any advice on getting a folder on an NAS to be recognized.  Thanks in advance!
