HP MFP M477fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

a week ago i scanned 5 pages using the doc feeder.  first 4 scanned, but the last one did not feed.

couldn't get the last page to work with the doc feeder.

i used the flatbed method.

today, unplugged the printer.  plugged it back in.

printer says document loaded.  press the scan to PC option.  paper never feeds.

paper in the doc feeder, click copy.  works perfectly.

similar problem was answered on the forum but the instructions did not help with my model.

i can't find the option that was described in answer.

Control Panel > Devices and Printers

right mouse over the device.

options are Start Scan, Scan Profiles..., Scan Properties

i select Scan Properties

General Tab describes the status

Diagnostics - Test Scanner - Your imaging device successfully completed the diagnostic test.

Events Tab

Select an Event Scan (default), Scan for OCR, Scan for Fax, Scan for Print,

Actions (options)

3 radio buttons Start this Program, Prompt for which program to run, Take no action

Color Management tab - no help and didn't expect to find what i was looking for.

all tabs, nothing about the document feeder option.
