I had a problem with a magenta splotches and splatters which seemed to get worse and worse. So I eventually changed the magenta cartridge and things seemed to be OK for a short time. But the problem is starting to come back.  Every page seems to have a section of specks about 1-2" from the top, then another messier section with specks and splotches about 4-5" from the top.

The problem does not happen on every page. It looks as though it appears on only the first page, when I print a two-page document.

I've done all the standard troubleshooting steps: print a Print Quality page (which looks fine), print a Cleaning page, check the supplies level.

I'm using Georgia Pacific Spectrum Standard 92 multipurpose paper. I'm using a non-HP cartridge from Cool Toner. (I thought the cartridge might be a problem, so I changed it. But how likely is it that two cartridges would both have a problem?)

Suggestions?
