I currently have a single phone line (presumably 4-wire) that comes into my office. The line is split with a standard splitter with one line going to my phone and one line now going to the printer. The phone has a Line 1&2 port as well as a Line 2 port. The phone line is plugged into the dual port which allows it to switch (with a push button) between the Voice Line and the Fax Line. The printer however only seems to see the Voice Line. If the Fax Line is dialed the printer acts as if it doesn't see the incoming call. If you dial the Voice Line then the fax tries to answer and gives the tell-tale fax noises. If you send a fax it sends over the Voice Line.

Is there a software/setting to chose which line the printer fax uses?

If not, is there a hardware solution?

(Does the printer phone port only have two pins? Perhaps making a custom pinned cord with the Fax Line pins on one jack end wired to the Voice line pins on the other jack end?)
