Help, I need to print urgently for work, I have just replaced my old cartridge with a very expensive new 953XL (black) as reported as compatible with my printer and I am being told that it is an older generation cartridge. The printer says it is compatible with the cartridge and the packaging of the cartridge says it is compatible with the printer. How do I get round this error and print?

I have followed the instructions on unplugging, waiting 60 seconds and none of it works. If this cartridge is not compatible will HP replace it free of charge as it is your cartridge and your printer?

Edit: My panic has been reduced as I was able to print the 2 pages I needed by putting the old "depleted" cartridge back in, but that's probably not going to last long. What is the point of me having a spare cartridge so that I can always print when needed if the cartridges don't work, especially at £40 a pop.
